4-6ft SW Swell at Sunset Cliffs San Diego | Overhead to Double Overhead Surf Session June 9th, 2026
📍 Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, CA
📅 June 9, 2026 | 1600-1900
🌊 4-6 ft+ | SW swell 190-200 degrees @ 18s | S/SW winds | High tide
Tuesday evening at Sunset Cliffs had a powerful SW swell rolling in from 190-200 degrees with 18-second intervals. The top South-facing breaks were in the overhead to well-overhead zone with double overhead sets at the standouts. During the 1600-1900 (4:00-7:00 PM) window, the tide was on a strong push toward the 4.97-foot high at 1738 (5:38 PM), putting a nice amount of water over the reef right through golden hour. Winds were out of a Southerly flow with stronger S/SW breezes into the afternoon, air temps around 73F. Water temp around 66F.
The kelp beds did their thing keeping the surface cleaner than it had any right to be with that afternoon wind. Big, long-period South energy wrapping into the reef – this is what Sunset Cliffs was made for.
